A normal day at the beach that could turn into a nightmare. The images shot by Michelle McCool, wife of the wrestler The Undertaker, while the latter positions himself in the water to separate the woman from a potential threat near the shore, have gone viral on social networks. “My protector,” McCool says as she resumes her husband’s feat.

The Undertaker meets a shark, what happened

The couple was in an unspecified location. Michelle McCool was on the beach reading a book when she noticed the presence of a silhouette in the water.

At that point McCool says sent a message to her wrestler husband, who immediately intervened.

She posted – “I was just enjoying a book on the beach when I saw this vegetation that was very similar to a shark. And it was! So I texted my husband.”

The Undertaker therefore positioned himself between his wife and the shark to ensure that he did not approach the woman. Shortly after, the mysterious visitor left. Michelle McCool’s comment: “Apparently I wasn’t too old to scare him, but you were.”

The hypothesis of a nurse shark

According to some users it would have been a nurse shark , known to scientists as Ginglymostoma cirratum . This species of shark is considered harmless to humans, even if there have been attacks and  bites in history .

According to the booklet ‘Shark Attack Injuries Epidemiology and Implications for Plastic Surgeons’, most of the history of human bites by nurse sharks can be traced back to unwary divers.

It could therefore have been a false alarm as recently happened in Palinuro , in Cilento, where some tourists on an excursion on the water experienced moments of panic  after seeing a fin emerge on the surface. The skipper Ciro Sacco , who was in the company of the bathers, immediately reassured them: it was a sunfish.
